Hydraulic drum brakes use familiar drum components but apply them with brake fluid instead of electric magnets. We diagnose and service the complete system.
Hydraulic drum brakes stop the trailer with brake shoes working inside a drum, much like electric drum brakes. The difference is in how the shoes are applied: hydraulic pressure and wheel cylinders take the place of electric magnets.
That means a complete diagnosis can include the shoes and drums as well as brake fluid, lines, wheel cylinders, and the actuator. Hydraulic drum systems are less common, so we identify the components before ordering the correct replacement parts.
Hydraulic drum service generally runs about $200-$500 more than comparable electric drum brake work. The final total depends on axle size, drum condition, hydraulic components, and parts availability.
